October 16, 2001 . . . As for your class, I can honestly say that it was the most enjoyable and informative brass masterclass in recent memory. Aside from the group's effortless and beautiful playing, your collective professionalism and musical integrity was refreshingly welcome. Your commitment to educating young musicians was evident in the patient and thoughtful way you handled questions from our students; they really responded to your candor, expertise and wisdom. Many commented on what they described as your 'consummate artistry and commitment to the craft." Your class gave our brass students just the boost they needed to start the semester off on the right track. If it was within my power, I would have the American Brass Quintet here every year. . . . Again, thank you for your warmth and your wonderful playing. It was a special pleasure for me to hear a group who plays so beautifully together and to experience your collective commitment to presenting new music for brass.
